i think mainly because the rest of the world does not have enough money to equip themselves with football equipment. with soccer, all you need is a ball and two posts (for the goal)…which is why it’s popular in poorer countries like england, mongolia, cuba, and all those latin american countries.
football is more popular in rich countries like usa and canada…and there aren’t as many rich countries as they are poor.
